PORT DICKSON: Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson has brought pride to Negeri Sembilan and Malaysia by securing two Guinness World Records for the most swimming pools and overwater villas in a resort.
To celebrate these exceptional achievements, Guinness World Records representative Swapnil Dangarikar officially handed over the two plaques to Kuala Lumpur Metro Group managing director Datuk Low Tak Fatt and Lexis Hotel Group president Mandy Chew. The ceremony, held at the beach resort, was graced by Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
Among the distinguished guests were Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Datuk Chong Yoke Har, Kuala Lumpur Metro Group chairman Datuk Mat Hassan Esa, and executive director Datuk Yap Chuan Thai.
Ermieyati praised Lexis Hibiscus for setting a new national record with each accommodation featuring an indoor pool. She highlighted that this innovative feature led the resort to achieve two prestigious Guinness World Records. She encouraged more Malaysians, whether individuals or corporate entities, to follow Lexis Hibiscus' example.
Mat Hassan noted that the RM400 million resort development, which began welcoming guests in 2015, has significantly contributed to Malaysia’s tourism industry. He mentioned that their hotels and resorts have attracted over 3.2 million tourists from 120 countries. With a conservative expenditure estimate of RM1,000 per guest, Lexis has contributed over RM3.2 billion in tourism revenue. He also emphasized the job opportunities created for locals.
Lexis Hibiscus has also received other notable awards, including the World Luxury Hotel Award for Luxury Water Villa Resort in Southeast Asia in 2016 and The BrandLaureate SMEs Signature Award for Best Brand in Hospitality for Hotels and Resorts. Mat Hassan expressed the hope that Port Dickson will one day be recognized among world-class tourist destinations.
Lexis Hibiscus is the first hotel to apply for and hold such Guinness World Records. The contemporary resort, designed by a team of award-winning architects, features 639 pool villas, including 522 overwater villas and 117 tower rooms. Its unique design resembles Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus, which inspired the resort's name and layout.
