In a recent development, Kuala Lumpur Metro Group, in a joint venture with Menteri Besar Incorporated (the investment arm of the Negeri Sembilan government), announced the upcoming Lexis Hibiscus 2 resort at an official signing ceremony. The event was witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Member of Parliament for Port Dickson.

Set to open in 2024, this 5-star luxury resort, adjacent to the renowned Lexis Hibiscus in Port Dickson, boasts an estimated gross development value of RM500 million. The resort will feature 760 rooms, including 582 water villas and 178 sky pool villas. Each villa will provide unparalleled luxury and privacy with its own private dip pool.

“We are thrilled to partner again with the Lexis Hotel Group for our latest iconic project, Lexis Hibiscus 2. Leveraging their expertise as a trend-setting hospitality company and their strong local market knowledge, we believe Lexis Hibiscus 2 will emulate and surpass the success of Lexis Hibiscus, currently the largest water homes development in the world,” said Ybhg. Dato’ Haji Mat Hassan Esa, Chairman of Kuala Lumpur Metro Group.

The Lexis Hibiscus 2 project is expected to draw approximately 400,000 tourists annually to Port Dickson. With an average one-night stay costing RM600, this influx of tourists is projected to generate RM240 million per year, significantly benefiting local communities and enhancing Port Dickson’s appeal as an international tourist destination.

The launch of Lexis Hibiscus 2 will further solidify the Lexis brand in Port Dickson. “We aim to promote tourism in Port Dickson for discerning leisure and business travelers, including FITs, tour series, corporate, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) segments, both locally and internationally,” Mat Hassan added.

During the event, YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin Bin Harun, Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, revealed that Menteri Besar Incorporated received a 20 percent stake in the Lexis Hibiscus 2 project in return for 32 hectares of land. Additionally, the state government will benefit from the land premium paid by Kuala Lumpur Metro Group, which will also compensate 42 affected fishermen with RM1,000 per month for five years.

To date, Kuala Lumpur Metro Group’s properties—Lexis Port Dickson, Grand Lexis Port Dickson, and Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson—have attracted 5.2 million tourists, half of whom are from 156 countries worldwide. The Group aims to further increase its appeal to both local and international guests, particularly in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern regions, by providing its signature brand of hospitality and memorable experiences with Lexis Hibiscus 2.

The project is expected to create numerous business and job opportunities. Approximately 2,000 jobs will be generated during the construction phase, and another 1,000 jobs during the resort management phase.

Lexis Hibiscus 2 will offer premier accommodation, dining, and meeting facilities in Negeri Sembilan. Key features include a sunken aquarium with a built-in restaurant—the first of its kind in Malaysia—a musical fountain, the largest grand ballroom in Negeri Sembilan with a capacity for 2,000 people, and Hibiscus Walk, an outdoor shopping and dining destination featuring authentic Malaysian street food stalls.
